Early Morning Traveler

The city’s breath was even and slow ~ only the hum of wires woven through trees lighting the early few citizens arising,
occasional taxis rolling silently by in the early, early morning still dark outside pools of light from streetlights, there were still stars to be seen sprinkled around the moon
cutting a crescent in the soft black sky.
roll and bump of my suitcase wheels
along the sidewalk dented the almost silence.
this beginning to my weekend away
started softly with a long day stretching ahead,
eager to visit with a good friend,
nursing classmates and instructors for our
annual RGH Alumnae gathering
a pause in my Victoria life
to reflect, regain perspective and rest.

“Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.”
