Coincidence or Clairvoyance

Does it matter which?
Vision of a book I planned
returned without a hitch

Classroom challenge from last week ~ read and study and
a website to take a peek

revealed to me a tiny book
my mind designed and planned
colours, glue and magazine create a tiny hook!

“Chance is always powerful. Let your hook always be cast;
in the pool where you least expect it, there will be fish.”

Because I Am Alive

Because I am alive
challenged each morning
by the trilling of distant birds
sunshine through delicate curtains
to rise and feel
ground beneath my feet
ancient desire for breakfast aromas
wells up, pulls me gently forward

Because I am alive
morning habits recreate what is past
adding my own touch
beginning a day unlike no other
and yet so much the same
for each step that I take on my own ground
slowly or quickly
a pace of my own making
guides me until sunset and only nightbirds sing.

“As you walk and eat and travel, be where you are.
Otherwise you will miss most of your life.”

A Wondering

When a day passes so smoothly
 wondering hovers in the trees
floats through grasses and flowers looking for bright moments ~
moments full of knowing and amazement

When a day passes so smoothly
echoes of each voice quiet and calm, ideas and questions passed back and forth looking for challenges and possibilities
moments full of thoughtful meaning.

When a day passes so smoothly
resting comes easily.
Gratitude rises up through the quiet evening
looking only to accept and welcome
moments full of abundance.

“Gratitude is a magic potion that turns ordinary into abundance; instantly.”

A New Beginning

I started class tonight
and each Tuesday from 6 pm and 9 pm until and through June 21.
A challenge to learn more about this practice of writing.

The focus?
Learning to write about one’s art.

My art?
I’ve chosen Standing Still Slowly as my focus.

First assigments?
Write a bio and two readings.
The bio at the bottom of the page is rather boring - a list of places I’ve lived!

So this week, I’ll be developing a new one.
Learning ~ expanding ~ exciting……

Homelessness - A Problem

Homelessness is a problem

The Homeless are a problem

Good thing I am not one of ‘them’

Must be a real challenge to be safe, well fed and, I suppose, transportation must be a problem..

You know, getting to work…...wait…..

No address….no bank account….no bathroom facilities for getting ready for work…….clean clothes…..

So who has the problem?

The mayors of three cities to meet in a public forum here in Victoria to discuss the solutions that have been implemented in Medicine Hat, Alberta and in Eugene, Oregon.

Sorry about the fuzzy picture (more technical difficulties!) The poster reads:

HOMELESSNESS
FREE EVENT  - OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
MONDAY, MAY 30th
7PM (doors open at 6:30)

Speakers are:
Mayor Ted Chapman,
Medicine Hat, Alberta

Mayor Lisa Helps
Victoria, BC

Mayor Kitty Piercy
Eugene, Oregon

“The big issue here is not the accuracy of the count.
It is what the city is doing to address street homelessness”

A challenge of will to hear other sides of the story

Letting go
Of the need to be right so truth can emerge.

the human world is for all sides to sit down and talk.”
