The Time it Takes

The time it takes 

to grow up, 

to decide what to do, 

to walk a mile

to understand

Each step 

a moment,

Always a Path

The squirrel cage of overthinking always needs a walk in the park, bringing spinning thoughts to play 

in winter snow 

 or summer sun

  or springtime gardens 

    or kicking leaves in the fall

to find the path 

running through it all.

Until I Tried

that first step is winning a mind game, when wanting to 

    do something, 

    achieve something, 

    acquire something 

but the mind game whispers of not enough. 

No matter how many successes, 

the same feelings of lack and not enough.

until with trepidation I tried ~

and filled the void with rhythm and joy of trying.

Brick Walls or Sunflowers

Each have purpose. 

Brick walls provide shelter. 

Art brings joy and brightness.

Should I beat against a mason's handiwork

or drift into the beauty of Picasso's art?

Maybe there is room for both.

Time for a Sunflower
