Decisions

Deciding to choose ~
When my stomach growls, the menu looks delicious, cooking aromas waft from a kitchen.

Difficult but so enjoyable

Deciding a turn to right or left
Under trees through the park

Not so difficult and usually pretty easy

Deciding to search out an answer
When the answer may be unpopular with some

A challenge within but satisfying in the end.

“In the end you only answer to yourself.”

Up, Up and Away!

…….and down the street are white clematis!
I don’t know the name of the flowering bush outside my window ~

tiny white flowers have covered it like fine lace
faded now,
the white lace trimmed in sepia as they dry
beginning to seed

a charming flock of sparrows
danced, twittered and fluttered through
leaf-heavy thin branches bending in the wind
tiny berries only starting to show lovely orange.

Then with a final dip down onto my patio
they challenged the wind and flew up, up and away.

they are there and they are every where!”

Peripheral Vision

To find a deeper meaning
In beliefs that have taken root
Is to glance, then look
At wild flowers that
Grow at the side of the path
Or star-shine high in the sky ~
A challenge to see them as one.

“Never look directly at the sun. Instead, look at the sunflower.”

Choice of Word and Meaning

Poetry and story ~
    even essays!
Structures of word craft like bouquets of flowerscolour and aroma filling space with presence.

Choosing the words, choosing their order to carry many threads of gilt or dark ~ a daunting challenge
when planting a garden.

“Drudgery is as necessary to call out the treasures
of the mind, as harrowing and planting those of the earth.”
~ Margaret Fuller

Re-Imagining Wordcraft - ArtWriting - Second Session

Art Books were the topic.
Putting art into book form
Words to pictures and pictures to words

Withdrawal management - an art form
Words, sentences, paragraphs without pictures
Tonight’s challenge? Re-conceptualize detox ideas

From old magazines, with scissors and glue
Words, sentences, paragraphs
Restructured with colour and life.

“Thought can organize the world so well
that you are no longer able to see it.”
~ Anthony de Mello, One Minute Wisdom

Timely Determination

There is something determined about
that first day off when it is time.

Determination challenges tiredness to join friends walking and talking atop the day

Rest and relaxation comes afterwards, finishing that first day off ~ because it is time.
“….I cannot escape my life but can only use my
determination and courage to make it the best I can.”

Comes a Welcoming

My work week comes to a close today at 2300
11 p.m. In the world outside of scheduled walls
Each day full and rewarding
Some moments less so.

Standing still slowly in the morning
Bare toes curling into taupe pile
Feet rested and ready to move forward

   Mind not quite ready
         Lagging mere nanoseconds behind

Enough time to form the words
'move slowly into this new day'

In this new morning
The universe exists within measured steps
~ breadth of arm span

Distance from
face cloth to face
tea kettle to coffee cup

Sunshine glancing off warm maple shine
another bit to welcome me to my dining room

Cheery faces of tiny violas turned to flowers, bushes and trees
any tiredness challenged and
smoothed away in the comfort of home.

“We will go far away, to nowhere, to conquer, to fertilize until
we become tired. Then we will stop and there will be our home.”
~ Dejan Stojanovic
