Not Always Calm

Protective intention
sparks into
tight fists of fear and anger
flinging shards of anxiety
sheathed unwillingly for a moment’s sanity.

“Anger is a short madness.”

Intention to Survive Relapse

Intention to survive
buried deep
slows downward spirals
to cling to life again.

Intention to feel life again
suggests a frightening life change
without showing
the steps to take.

Intention to be brave
in the face of sobriety
is not considered courageous
may not even be considered.

Intention to survive
edges through a soiled conscience
as a steep upward climb
begins once more.

“People will do amazing things to ensure their survival.”
~ Patricia Briggs, The Hob’s Barga

Storied Intention

Slicing into intention
wondering where intention arose
scenes from early nursing
faces of patients and colleagues
flash forward into my consciousness.
Stories that have come with me
serving no purpose but to tell a story
I thought.
Memory’s library has saved them
their purpose becoming clear ~
Slices of grand intention together become storied intention.

“A story has it’s purpose and it’s path.
It must be told correctly for it to be understood.”
~ Marcus Sedgwick

Where are Intentions Hidden?

Walking to the bus stop,
opportunity arose to study people sharing the sidewalk.
What were the intentions of the people passing on the street?
If they were coloured ribbons,
would multicoloured streamers be blowing
from shoulders, arms, fingertips?
What about the clean cut young man,
crosslegged on a sidewalk corner, gently petting his sleeping dog?
Where do his intentions live? Are they homeless too?
The blue jacketed woman striding with purpose against the wind?
Does she carry them like a shopping list in pocket or purse?
And the young boys on their skate boards?
Have they any intentions except of those of having fun?
Riding the bus,
opportunity arose to study people on the street rushing past.
On the open street the intentions of others are secret and hidden.

“What do we any of us have but our illusions? And what
do we ask of others but that we be allowed to keep them?”
~ W.Somerset Maugham

Intentional Choice

Ready.
Morning set.
Walking and talking the plan.

Brrriinnnnnng!
Morning suspense!
Working or walking the choice.

Decision.
Pack lunch in a flash.
Intentional shift of focus.

Intention
Time spent or time earned
~ working fits for today.

“Be at peace with your choices.
They all serve you.”

Creative Intention

Colour and crayons
Paper dolls and dresses
Creativity comes easily to a child

Pencils and paper
Letters and lessons
Learning soaked up like a sponge

The soil of intention planted ~
nurtured, watered and raked
seeds of curiousity scattered and strewn

to lie softly while living grew up,
roots spread and grip the ground
to bloom shyly in bright morning sun.

Slowly intention sprouts
an idea, a need or a thought
to be nurtured and watered and raked.

“Often, it’s not about becoming a new person, but
becoming the person you were meant to be, and
already are, but don’t know how to be.”
~ Heath L. Buckmaster, Box of Hair; A Fairy Tale
