In Silence

It has become our custom to celebrate ~
celebrate a life well lived through circumstance and growth, riches or poverty

In celebration
we pause and grow silent,
waiting for balloons and music and coloured confetti

In silence
we celebrate with our memories

This custom of celebration ~
This tiny piece of bravery
is our goodbye and farewell.

“Life is what you celebrate. All of it. Even its end.”
~ Joanne Harris, Chocolat
