Open Letter to Global Politicians

Today's writing assignment for writer's group. Topic: a letter to a politician. As I couldn't choose just one, I got a bit expansive and wrote to them all. My writing may just be a bit naive!

Open Letter to Global Politicians

Elected officials, better known as politicians, are responsible to care for their country’s citizenry.

This means you: in Canada, in the United States, in Russia, in all of Europe - any country in the world. I am asking each of you to look deeply into why you spend so much time on territorial wrangling. Talk with one another, share your ideas and come to consensus. I know. I know. That is probably a bigger job than territorial wrangling. That is so much easier. Directing and delegating until others do the deeds that massively interfere with the care of your constituents. Sharing ideas is not all that difficult when each of you has a passionate belief in your own agendas. Coming to consensus for the well-being of all? Now that is difficult. Should there be life outside of our planet, they would not see global harmony but global competition. Competition that gets down and dirty. So please, for the sake of your constituents but even more so, for the sake of your children and grandchildren, let go of your egos long enough to stop competing with one another. Find the common ground of consensus.

Signed:
A concerned global citizen.
