Distractions

Bright coins or bits of shiny foil
Sticky with sweetness and promise of good taste
Sitting to read - just a chapter....
(Dust bunnies waiting patiently for a new home)
Aromas of fading roses or bubbling stew
A quaint garden by the side of a road.
The glint of sun on a spider web strung wide in the yard
Sudden flight of birds like bits of paper flung sky high
Stray weeds marring cement where I walk.
Sight and sound, aroma and movement ask for attention
Tiny bits of energy, like coloured sparklers, quicken then fade.

“You can always find a distraction if you’re looking for one.”
~ Tom Kite
