The Wonder of Ideas

Ideas pop and sprout like
 flowers from spring soil
  with no need for seasons,
   sunshine or rain ~
    ideas merely need attention
     recognition of their worth

And yet
 some only seem worthy of
  a brief hello
   a wave goodbye
a nod, a smile and then passing by

And some
 climb chaotically
  beautiful in their lushness
   while smothering fruits and flowers

Some beautiful ideas yield
 fruits for action and change,
  creations of progress ~
growth for new roads to explore

Spent with the energy of growth
bolting from leaf to seeds ~
  seeds thrown into the soil
await new ideas to pop and sprout

Choked out by weedy ideas
 to wither, dry and die
  ideas crumble into the soil
composting til the time is right

Ideas come from us all
to pop, sprout and grow ~
to shape our homes and families
to build our societies and cultures
with satisfaction in the wonder of our ideas.

“Ideas won’t keep; something must be done about them.”
~ Alfred North Whitehead
