Birth Day

Early this morning ~ thinking of mom

and this life changing date ~ for mom

~ and the rest of the family!

She carried me for nine months

in the safety of her womb ~

as she had with each of my siblings.

I thought of the back pain, the cramping,

and all that would be left undone

while this first of the many tasks

a woman does for each of her children

cannot wait ~ and so I smile and say ~

Thank you for this birth day so long ago.

“Even though we have a body which can thrive and be used

for beautiful things, it is the changeless soul which connects.”

~ Donna Goddard, Waldmeer
