A Gentle Day ~ 1

floating on the

watery surface of

discontent

waiting for direction

to reveal my day’s purpose

I settle on the surface

of this nothingness ~

gentleness and rest

wrap ‘round me ~

I warm to my purpose

“Oh! that gentleness! How far more potent is it than force!”

~ Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre

Below the Stars

Rescued
Rescued

A train whistles in the night,

rumbles and clacks over

the rustling of cornstalks

drying and dried of life;

tomato plants sprawl silently

beneath scrappy blankets,

protected against early frost,

in a small garden lying

below the stars of autumn

“…there is a harmony

In autumn, and a lure in the sky....”

~ Percey Bysshe Shelley

Autumn Dance

through graceful trees

the cold wind whistles,

curling crusts of red and gold

down long asphalt dance floors.

“Wind is a floating wave of air whose

undulation continually varies.”

~ Vitruvius
