Something More

Yearning for something more, anything…
anything that stirs my soul down to
my toes tapping,
    hips swaying,
       fingers snapping
        with a glorious spin ~
my face turned to the sun
in defiance of the winds of change.

Yearning for something more, anything…
that shoots me through spring soil
despite rocky crags or drying lands
to gift me with joy while I let go of darkness, grief or sadness
replanting them carefully in soil of the past
giving them a chance to become fertile soil
for the seeds and flowers that support
exciting journeys yearned for.

Yearning for something more, anything…..
yeasty aromas, exotic rhythms and soothing music ~
all underpinnings of home and hearth ~
denying any muttering or wondering
about where I am and who I am ~
for an open flow of energy with
momentum and action to refine and
transform old habits and lessons in this love of life

Yearning for something more, anything…..
Brings me the joy of learning
creating more from what is present
unravelling yesterday’s trips down memory lane
to find questions still to be answered with
directions I still wish to follow on roads and lanes
lined with inner wisdom and knowledge
that awaken my sleepy consciousness.

Yearning for something more, anything….
that brings me joy ~
whether gems or rocks to fill my life with
  beauty in each day and
     dreams for tomorrow
while cherishing an ever wavering mirage of the past
complete with colourful balloons, iridescent soap bubbles
and gardens full of growth, life and living.

“…that yearning inside you that seeks for fulfillment - does it still burn?”

Outside the Fence

Evermore to challenge the status quoshaped by beliefs of a time and place,

each of us can hold our banners high or have them removed from our grasp.

Accepting this challenge, built from the strength of the masses,

blossoms into choice
arising from heart and soul.

Each personal journey will give form to
challenges made, whether grand or humble.

“Someone’s always going to come down on the side of the fence.”

Routine Variations

Never varying except when
~ a new routine would work better
 ~  an emergency calls
 ~  more tools (or playthings)
     are absolutely necessary
 ~  a vision goes from
     foggy haze to bright mirage
OR - and this is important
 ~ a side-trip with friends,
just for fun, is on the calendar!

“I have called this principle, by which each slight variation,
if useful, is preserved, by the term of Natural Selection.”
~ Charles Darwin

Do-Over with Pizzazz

Routines established over years of
comings in and goings out onto roads and walkways of career and employment while growing into adulthood,
raising children, and following dreams
belong not only to a work schedule
but to all that is needed to support any work schedule.

Space and time have been set free to create rhythm and rhyme for this new phase to grow, to learn and to love within my own home, family, friends and community

Always grateful for the routines established
over years teaming with colleagues and co-workers,
while we have cared for the sick, the infirm and the addicted,
I am curious and wanting to know more as I am re-tiring myself.

“Look for the magic in the daily routine.”

One of Those Phases

Photo taken March 29, 2019 in Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, BC
Upsetting the balance of
any of life’s ‘phases’
rocks our worlds with
sticks and stones or with
bright balloons and music
while we set our course in
our own uncharted waters.

Upsetting the balance of
established, yet faded,
patterns stirs up debris scattered & stacked in closets and drawers to be waded through ~ or not ~
while we pay our bills
do the laundry and get groceries.

Upsetting the balance of life
in the spirit of transition?
Easier to navigate with
strength, skills and beliefs
learned from sometimes tiresome lessons
throughout life’s growing seasons.
Retirement ~ just one of those phases.

“A transition period is a period between two transition periods.”

1982 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences

Breathless

Outside of the comfort zone
of a scheduled work world
with all the trappings of
before and after
into the comfort zone of
home, family and friends
leaves me breathless ~ excited
for this new before and after.

“Breathless and unharmed, we emerge from he mazes of metaphysics and
psychology where man and the soul are playing hide-and-seek.”
~ Ameen Rihani, (1876 - 1940

Get Ready....

Journeys often begin with some trepidation...dampened by the aroma of fresh brewed coffee, a delicious breakfast of fried eggs, fresh fruit, and the excitement of unknown terrain and treasures to be discovered while exploring side roads into open fields, forests and orchards, kitchen tables and communities ~ backpacks full with shared and personal wisdom and experience.....
but it really all begins with waking up, feet on the floor
and enjoying a good breakfast each and every morning.

“One should not attend even the end of the world without a good breakfast.”
~ Robert A. Heinlein, Friday
