Where is It?

Wanton whimsy

    Where can I find it?

It’s not in the work place

I can’t buy it in the store

In church I have to be quiet

Libraries are hushed and silent.

Wanton whimsy ~

    Will I move forward?

Swinging high and low, back and forth,

I know the feeling of movement

Walking from here to there, strolling or striding

I can hear myself think of things that could be

Wanton whimsy ~

    It can be found!

In the playground no matter my age.

On a sidewalk, a path or high in the trees

In the face of a flower or song of the birds

Riding a bike, face to the wind and sun.

Wanton whimsy ~

    Will it help me move forward?

A short answer is: Yes

When I see the colours outside of my mind and

listen to my real wishes and dreams

I know how to step forward in my life.

On a Whim

What to do with the chicken this time?

So I started to build a ‘recipe’

Chicken thighs - I’ll cook them in the oven but want something different.

Salt and Pepper - that’s usual, but a sprinkle of oregano sounds like a nice addition.

Hmmmmm……..sour cream! I’ll coat them with sour cream.

Good. All in the baking dish but they do look lonely.

I know! Potato slices - looks too, I don’t know, boring.

A few slices of onion should help - flavour will be good. Just a quarter of one though. I’m not a big onion fan except for the flavour.

It really does need some colour!

Oh well, in the oven at 350 F for an hour.

~~~~~
Now for the colour - frozen broccoli over it all with little
chunks of orange bell pepper. Back in the oven so they can thaw and cook. That’s better.
Afterthought: finely grated parmesan cheese. Yes, that seems just right.
Final taste test  (my supper)
It was delicious! The chicken was moist and flavourful. I would do something different with the sour cream though. It curdled and the look of the dish wasn’t up to snuff.
**Note:  I am incredibly grateful to all the truckers that brought me the groceries for my supper. I do not know all the personal reasons for the convoys and protests that each trucker and individuals brought to the Legislature today. I am, however, annoyed - no, I am angry - that some have chosen to disregard the very real danger of the viral spread we are living with. That includes our politicians. If any of it has to do with just a whim, I am even more angry.
Christmas Past
Christmas past has become
Christmas today ~
whimsical, glowing
packaged in brown paper
tied with red ribbons while
Father Christmas ~
a gentle spirit brings
joy and kindness to all.
A Word Game
My words seem to have dashed away!
Important or frivolous words gone! instead of jousting and playing with crossed swords of meaning and purpose.
Importance too often wins over frivolity
Frivolity smeared liberally between the heavy bricks of importance
builds something worth the time of day or week and month and year.
Bricks of importance and privilege
plus
the mortar of frivolity with its own sort of privilege
builds a whimsical house with
a curvy sloped roof and a funny top hat chimney
puffing out smoke when the fire of passion is hot.
There is only one leader of a country,
one C.E.O. of an organization and
    one famous author of each string of books
but
a host of us ordinary folk
living ordinary lives with
little glitz or glamour
    make the world go ‘round
        for the Really Important People
    while doing frivolous things like
     playing games with our children and going for ice cream.
We are :
Really Important Frivolous People
Transformation ~ 4
Jewels dangle from slender stems
Evergreen boughs a textured backdrop
softening mortared granite
Whimsical perspective
transforms nature’s beauty
Nature is our world
More than a back drop ~
an integral part of the natural world
we send our energies into
    the work we do
      the kindnesses we share
        the negativities we throw out like
so much invisible garbage
messes swirling around us,
    within us
invisibility is a task of gargantuan proportions
Jewels dangle from slender stems
showing us how to just be.
Our lives the ever greening backdrop,
whimsy and a light touch transforms our own beauty.
