Dinner at Six

,,

Fresh cool evening air,

wet roll of few passing cars,
birdsong hushed and held,
gulls and crows silenced

Light fog settled
in green gold treetops,
cloud bank hovered and
hinted a late evening rain

Saturday night birthday dinner
warm, welcoming and filled
with ideas, questions and laughter
good food and good friends ~

Through the window
setting sun broke through
spreading its golden radiance
to welcome our gathering.

“Friends are a wonderful thing. They won’t make you feel like a nothing.”

Open Letter to Global Politicians

Today's writing assignment for writer's group. Topic: a letter to a politician. As I couldn't choose just one, I got a bit expansive and wrote to them all. My writing may just be a bit naive!

Open Letter to Global Politicians

Elected officials, better known as politicians, are responsible to care for their country’s citizenry.

This means you: in Canada, in the United States, in Russia, in all of Europe - any country in the world. I am asking each of you to look deeply into why you spend so much time on territorial wrangling. Talk with one another, share your ideas and come to consensus. I know. I know. That is probably a bigger job than territorial wrangling. That is so much easier. Directing and delegating until others do the deeds that massively interfere with the care of your constituents. Sharing ideas is not all that difficult when each of you has a passionate belief in your own agendas. Coming to consensus for the well-being of all? Now that is difficult. Should there be life outside of our planet, they would not see global harmony but global competition. Competition that gets down and dirty. So please, for the sake of your constituents but even more so, for the sake of your children and grandchildren, let go of your egos long enough to stop competing with one another. Find the common ground of consensus.

Signed:
A concerned global citizen.

Early Morning Start

Early to rise
Dreams sent adrift
Cool water washes wisps away
Random ideas sketched and journaled
Creamy sweet coffee sips a gentle ‘good morning’.

my headspace from being invaded by the outside world.”

An Ideal Definition

Idiosyncratic flashes of brilliance
Dynamic belief in thought
Effervescent dreams of growth

Politically Polite ~ IDEAS ~ Theme for November 2016

Politically Polite

Ismelda had no idea what costume she could have worn to the office Hallowe’en party.
Donald Trump had come to mind but it just seemed too darn politically incorrect, although that would have certainly kept her in character.
Even going as Hilary Clinton wouldn’t work because she didn’t even own a pantsuit!
After hemming and hawing Ismelda had her hair done like Hilary, wore a blue suit and red tie like Donald and learned how to be polite with bad grammar.
Success!!!

Paces and Play

The pace of life changes as we grow from play and lessons
to career building and new families, slipping into retirement
which really is a new career or back to play and lessons

The pace of life changes
 Our horizons grow shorter
but curiosity keeps a finger crooked to the future,
shaping our lives as we live them ~
our determination to work, play and learn does not have to retire.

“Keep pace with the drummer you hear, however measured or far away.”
~ Henry David Thoreau

High Stepping

Determination ~
Stepping over
  Through
     Around
All the yawning cracks
In the sidewalks to the next steps.

“There is a crack in everything.
That’s how the light gets in.”
~ Leonard Cohen
