Some Days

My stomach twists

when I feel my age -

at least my body’s age;

my mind juggles all the

what if’s and want to’s

that jostle for attention.

Age just keeps aging!

Want to’s take energy.

Makes things a bit off kilter.

So I’ll just march on

even if it is a bit slower

    ~ some days.

Always in the Middle

Everything went sideways ~

that’s what happened one

yesterday, or maybe more,

those sideways days ~ just

cracks in days planned to flow gentle as a summer river

interrupted by a summer storm. What are sideways things? In the middle:

dropping a glass container

      that shatters!

or spilling a dish of water

(the floor needed washing anyway)

or the dreaded hairballs that must be cleaned up1

There are many little everythings like that

outside the order of the day’s plan.

Words coloured violent blue assault the air.

’til everything’s righted with brooms, rags and lysol.

one of those days

one of those days

heavy

    sluggish

With a to-do list

not so long

nothing earth shattering

clutter and numbers to deal with

But on one of these days

when I want to push it all aside

I begin with breakfast and a nap

‘til a fragile bit of energy

      lets me address the numbers

the clutter much later …………
