Dinner at Six

Fresh cool evening air, 
wet roll of few passing cars,
birdsong hushed and held,
gulls and crows silenced

Light fog settled

in green gold treetops,
cloud bank hovered and
hinted a late evening rain

Saturday night birthday dinner
warm, welcoming and filled 

with ideas, questions and laughter
good food and good friends ~

Through the window
setting sun broke through
spreading its golden radiance 
to welcome our gathering.
