A Thrilling Saturday Afternoon

Musical movie memories from 1944 through 1993, entertained the audience at the Royal Theatre in Victoria yesterday afternoon. Edge of the seat thrillers like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. Hold your breath suspension like Stephen Spielberg’s Jaws. Each movie score flowed, screeched and pulled us through the ups and downs of tender scenes to murderous scenes and back again. At the end of the concert, my thoughts and discussion focused on the skill and creativity of the original composers and the very talented conductor and musicians of the Victoria Symphony.

“As important as colour is to a painting, or wings to a bird.
Music injects vibrancy to film and makes it soar!”
Gerard de Marigny
