Brown eyed susan’s trimmed
of once brilliant flowers,
their button brown eyes abandoned by fragile
golden petals of summer.
These shorn favourites sit
beneath stately trees,
graced by golden ruby crowns to rest quietly
on clipped and barren stems.

~ Albert Camus
