On a Morning Walk - Pensive

The roiling water reminded me of life that has passed beneath

bridges built to get us to the other side, paying the water no mind until

errant waves scoop up and wash across our many bridges built

of solid iron, wooden slats or

heavy cables that carry us over the past.

“The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”

~ William Faulkner, Requiem for a Nun
