In autumn it is easy
to look up to the crisping trees
to see the drift of gold
On an afternoon walk
it is easy to watch the sidewalk
for cracks or pebbles
It is easy to glance aside
to see rusty needles spread
in a tiny yard
On an afternoon walk
it is easy to stop and admire
two bend-y trunks of an old tree
In the fall it is easy
to look up to the crisping trees
to see the drift of gold.
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
~ Leonardo da Vinci
