Tests have a way of drawing a line
with a black marker that seems
indelible. That F that you got in
a high school English class,
the lab values that suggest some
kind of health condition, the
drivers test that you flunked because
you didn’t know the speed limits.
Tests don’t say whether you are able to
learn the how’s and wherefores of life. A special teacher may believe in you; your parents may believe in you;
your friends may believe in you ~
those who knew you, long before
you believed in yourself. The tether
between hearts plays out while your belief
grows stronger, never completely
letting go. When your belief falters, that
tether is a life line to the truth of your worth.
“If I accept you as you are, I will make you worse; however if I treat you
as though you are what you are capable of becoming, I help you become that,”
~ Johannn Wolfgang Von Goethe
