For the Noonday Sun

Spring blossoms,

pink and translucent,

whisked away too soon

by cruel winds

but autumn blossoms

in gold and red,

a filter for noonday sun

give me joy.

“How beautiful the leaves grow old.

How full of light and color are their last days.”

~ John Burroughs, essayist

(1837 ~ 1921)

That John Burroughs quote paired with your photo is lovely, golden-red leaves in the noonday sun is my favorite October sight too.

Golden-red leaves against the noonday sun, your poem captured October perfectly. The Burroughs quote was the perfect pairing.
