Confidence
at the end of the day is peaceful,
weaving loose ends of the day's interactions.
Colorful tapestries, rolled and stacked
in the closets of my mind
to be retrieved and used in lessons for
tomorrow – and tomorrow – and tomorrow.
Confidence
at the end of the day, despite tiredness, mental and physical
does not look, or feel, as early morning confidence does.
A slower energy, carrying a cup of tea to a cozy bed
takes me into restful sleep.
Confidence
at the end of the day
resides in my heart and in my home
in the colors of my things large and small
pictures of family and friends in many times and places.
“I am not a has-been. I am a will be.”
