Sweet Dreams

Dreams included ~

No one told me that 

dreams would be tucked 

inside that cloud of sleep. 

I recall whispered ‘sweet dreams’ 

Did it mean candy and gumdrops? 

But dreams included are seldom sweet. 

    Funny, 

      bizarre, 

        frightening, 

    completely disorganized 

but I have never been dropped into

a meadow full of daisies and sunshine with Mary Poppins and Bert 

to sing me to a circus. 

Wouldn’t that be a sweet surprise!
